Privacy Policy (DRAFT)

This policy explains what information Agent Casefile (“we”, “us”) collects through agentcasefile.com and The Casefile newsletter, and how we use it. [Owner: insert legal entity name, e.g. the LLC, once formed.]

1. Information we collect

Newsletter sign-ups. Your email address and, if you provide them, your name and role. Our newsletter platform (beehiiv) also records opens, clicks, and subscription status.
Messages you send us. If you email us (corrections, submissions, sponsorship), we keep the message and your contact details.
Site analytics. We plan to use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or collect personal data to track you across sites. We see aggregate data such as page views, referrers, and country.
Server and security logs. Our host (Cloudflare) processes IP addresses and request data to deliver and protect the site.
API use. If you use our public API, we may log request metadata (IP address, user agent, endpoint) for rate limiting and abuse prevention.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16, and the site is not directed to them. We do not collect protected health information (PHI); please do not send any.

2. How we use it

To send the newsletter you asked for, and service messages about it.
To respond to corrections, submissions, and inquiries.
To understand aggregate readership and improve the site.
To report aggregate, non-identifying audience statistics to sponsors (e.g., total subscribers, open rates).
To comply with law and protect the site and its users.

3. Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share your email address with sponsors. We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf (currently planned: beehiiv for email, Cloudflare for hosting and analytics, Stripe for any payments), when required by law, or in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business.

4. Email and unsubscribing

Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link and our postal address [owner: insert mailing address]. We use double opt-in and never add purchased lists.

5. Retention

We keep subscriber data while you are subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward for suppression and legal purposes. Correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle the request and maintain our corrections log.

6. Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe at any time. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights; we will honor applicable requests.
